BIG TEN 2020 COACH OF THE YEAR
The College Football Today & ESPN Plus Big Ten 2020 Coach of The Year Award winner has accumulated over 300 wins in his college coaching career. The Upper St.Clair Graduate out of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania never needed anything but tough and disciplined ball players over the years to win football games and I can't remember the last time Kirk Ferentz had a highly ranked recruiting class. I start Iowa out in the top 25 every year, just because I know if Ferentz is coaching, the Hawkeyes are guaranteed at least 8 or 9 wins by the time the season comes to an end. He even finagled a way to give walk on recruits farmer scholarships, so they aren't really walking on, but instead, walking into a very successful career after football no matter what. He was a graduate assistant with the 1980 Pitt Panthers and I know what long line of legendary coaches came out of that circle far to well. I am going to save the novel for the news feed later, but Coach Kirk Ferentz has stuck with one program for 22 years and that is a rarity that we may never see again with today's coaching carousels
2020 BIG 10 FB COACH OF THE YEAR
College Football Today & ESPN Plus 2020 Big 10 FB Coach of The Year Award goes to Iowa Hawkeyes Head Football Coach Captian Kirk Ferentz. He probably won't even see this award unless I fly to Iowa and hand deliver to him, but after starting out 0 & 2, he did it again in 2020 and reeled off 6 straight wins through much adversity. The Hawkeyes didn't get to play in a Bowl game due to the Music City Bowl being cancelled, but its hard for me knowing his complete history and what Kirk has been able to accomplish for now over two decades in the very competitive Big 10. I will have more on the Big Ten Coach of The Year coming tomorrow and after looking at full body of work, he deserves the recognition in my CFB history book.
