Top College Football Rivalries
With many big games still left on the college football schedule, there are many different College Football Playoff Scenarios that could play out. We are going to highlight them below and read about how our 8 Team CFP College Football Today brackets would look in 2018 and the selection process.
We are going to break down what needs to happen for UCF Football to stake a claim in the 2018 College Football Playoff, as I am now a firm believer that they do have a case to be in the CFP running down the stretch. UCF has won 21 consecutive football games and were able to destroy Cincinnati, who was nationally ranked among the AP and Coaches Polls. When you look at the stats below via Hero Sports, you will see that UCF is very comparable to Alabama Football this season offensively with both teams averaging around 550 yards per game. UCF also has scored more points and accumulated more yards then Clemson Football, Notre Dame Football and have averaged 100 yards more then Michigan per game. That being said, defensively they are about 100 or so yards behind the top defenses in the nation like Michigan and Clemson.
In my most humble opinion, everyone is underrating the Washington State Football team as I believe if you lined them up against the likes of LSU or Alabama, they would win, plain and simple. The combo of Mike Leach and Gardner Minshew has been one of the most fun tandems to watch in all of the college football and I believe that they received some high octane gas as of late to make a late run at the College Football Playoff. WSU was able to put up 69 points on the Arizona Wildcats this past week and their offensive unit looked merely unstoppable. I believe Washington State will have to lose to either Washington next week in the Apple Cup or the PAC-12 Championship to clear the way for UCF.
College Football Rivalry Games
First off, now that we know Coach Zack Smith speaks in drunken slurs on Twitter, can we stop judging Coach Urban Meyer for his conduct? Yes, Meyer has made too many mistakes with what he has allowed "The Brotherhood" to get away with, but if that is the bed he wants to lay his head down in at night, so be it. As I have said before in previous articles, "Be sure your sins will find you out", I believe it is in the BIBLE somewhere. Reports, Analysts and the rest of the college football world should now focus more on the game being played and how meaningful it is to the young men involved. If Michigan were to lose this contest and now that UCF has leap frogged over the Buckeyes in the CFP Top 25 Poll, this would also help clear the way for UCF Football to claim the number four spot in the College Football Playoffs. I do not see Notre Dame losing to USC or Clemson getting knocked off by Pittsburgh, but if either of these two scenarios were to play out, well UCF would be a lock in my opinion with the body of work they have established over the past two seasons.
College Football Rivalry Week
I do not think LSU is better than UCF this year and Oklahoma is actually the most comparable team to UCF statistically speaking. That being said, the SEC slugfest will continue and Alabama cannot have a first half like they did against Citadel if they hope to win the 2018 Iron Bowl and in the SEC Championship against a surging Bulldogs team. I am not a fan of undisciplined football and I have seen a lot of this style of play this year in the SEC conference. I believe this is why the BIG TEN, BIG 12, PAC-12 and even the ACC are just as good as the SouthEastern football conference this season. So where does that leave a American conference team like UCF, who appears to be just as good or better then what is in front of them in the CFP Top 25? Well, they can always build a new stadium and brag about it to the world, while then becoming complacent and going 3-8 like the Colorado State Rams or they can come out and trounce USF and come out heavily victorious in the American Conference Championship. After this, they then need a team of sports writers, former ball players and UCF activists to swarm the media and take your rightful spot in the College Football Playoff. This is how University of Central Florida can stake a claim to the 2018/2019 College Football National Title and we are rooting for you at College Football Today.
