4/3/2019 College Football Today at UH Football & Houston Cougar CFB Recruiting By Coach CruzRead NowUH FOOTBALL
There is a lot of excitement here at UH football that can be attributed to the unusual circumstances that brought Dana Holgersen to Houston TX. Unusual, because over the past 7 years he took West Virginia from a non-competitive Big East college football program into the Big XII and competed at a very high level. He made it to a bowl game all but one season at West Virginia since being in the Big XII, while putting 10 players in the NFL. Coach Holgorsen and the Mountaineers actually spent all of last season ranked in the Top 25 and not even the Longhorns could boast this in 2018. But whatever, conveniently UH only won 8 games in their 2018 season making the separation from Major Applewhite easy, as Coach Holgorsen became available. Usually with a head coaching change you expect a few years of mediocre play before the coaches recruiting and philosophy really take effect. Holgersen is better than that and going into a team that is really only a couple years removed from Tom Herman’s recruits. We can expect to keep Holgersen’s winning tradition here at UH and maybe, just maybe, we can watch Dana march another team into the Big XII and compete.
UH BIG XII CONFERENCE![]()
Many are looking at UH and the Big XII conference and wondering when they will extend the invite to UH into BIG XII conference play. UH Basketball has now made its mark by finishing their season in the Sweet 16, while most of the Big XII played in that “other tournament.” The H-Town Takeover is making a strong campaign and hopefully the Big XII conference is taking notes. The 2019 college football season brings a pretty tough schedule with the first game in Norman, OK against the Sooners, who are currently ranked in the Top five here at Collegefootballtoday.org. Then Mike Leach brings the Cougars to town two weeks later and Holgorsen has the opportunity to continue the massive statement UH athletics has made for a bid to a power five conference. Returning 26 seniors and good enough to beat OU a couple seasons ago, I like the possibilities of what Coach Holgorsen might be able to orchestrate, as a offensive mastermind in the world of College Football Today. The BIG XII conference only has 10 teams currently and we believe that UH athletics would be the perfect fit for the highly competitive BIG XII athletics conference.

HOUSTON FOOTBALL RECRUITING
Houston football recruiting by Coach Cruz
Having grown up on the Northwest side of Houston, I was a witness to some outstanding football. The huge stadiums and the rivalries are unlike any other place for high school football. Every team has talent and every team has kids that could easily go on to play football at the collegiate level. However, there a far more kids that get overlooked than those who make it to play at the next level. With all the options for college, it makes it much easier to choose when you are getting offered a scholarship for football to find a college home. As the best college football recruiting company, we are happy to call Houston home and look forward to working with the athletes in the South,Texas region of the CFB recruiting map.
