COLLEGE FOOTBALL TODAY
There are a slate of huge games in college football today that impact the college football playoff discussion. After watching film on tens of thousands of recruits over the years and just finishing up the notes on what I think is currently the top 10 QB's in the 2021 NFL Draft. There are so many different varieties of offensive and defensive schemes that college coaches use and this is what makes college football so much fun. Even the NFL has mixed in some so-called nontraditional schematics that has hoisted Super Bowl trophies in recent years and the player at the helm of the offense doesn't fit the mold of how a quarterback should appear to the human eye. Football in general pretty much always comes down to either preference, innovation or cognitive dissonance. Things can get complicated when evaluating 30+ top tier quarterbacks and nit-picking over the little things in our 2021 NFL Draft QB prospect formula. I find myself doing the same exact thing on the top QB recruit rankings and the bottom line is, they all have great skill-sets to excel in one system or another and very few can excel in them all. This is why in today's modern era of football, quarterbacks should worry less about the amount of offers or even the level that the school plays at, but rather the system and how their overall skill-set will get used to it's maximum potential.
2021 TOP NFL QB PROSPECT RANKINGS

.Justin Fields - When I evaluate this kind of talent at the top, which pretty much has it all. The first thing I look for is a catch-able football and more importantly, consistency in the throwing motion while also producing consistent positive results. Fields makes it very easy for the Ohio State Buckeyes receivers to catch the football, but does so with very good velocity and accuracy. He is highly adept at throwing on the run while using multiple arm angles to get the ball in perfect positioning for his receiver to make the catch. The ball placement Fields has demonstrated this season is the best I have witnessed on film since watching Kyler Murray’s passing abilities many times. If you watch the placement on his long ball, it can be zip lined on a rope and is thrown at eye level. Once an Ohio State receiver creates the very slightest separation, Fields let’s the football go and shows impeccable timing with his fellow Buckeyes. His short game passing is just as consistent in producing highly catch-able passes, in which the receiver can quickly flip his hips and dart up the field. These split tenths of a second that a receiver doesn’t have to change his eye level are the difference between a short completion and ball that goes for 6 points. The Ohio State Quarterback is 72 for 83 on the 2020 season and 11 touchdowns in only three games, while boasting an impeccable 222.4 QB rating. In order to stay ahead of the likes of Mac Jones, Trevor Lawrence or possibly even Ian Book, he is going to have to finish the season just as strong and lead the Buckeyes to an undefeated CFB Playoff bid. The thing that doesn’t bode too well for the number pick is they have to go to the worst team in the NFL, which happens to be the NY Jets. The game today against a top 10 ten ranked opponent in Indiana, will reveal what FIelds is really made of the heat of battle, against a defense that should also produce many 2021 & 2022 NFL Draft picks. Thus far, he has shown no glimpses of lack of focus and is one of the most confident pocket-passers under Coach Ryan Day and the Buckeyes coaching staff.
2022 TOP QB RECRUIT
Much like 2021 NFL Draft QB prospect Justin Fields, 2022 top QB recruit Connor Harrell has put up ridiculous numbers, but through a complete season of 13 games. He has thrown for over 3,000 yards and had 34 touchdowns through the air, while also rushing for 5 and completing 75% of his passing attempts. Harrell only had 3 interceptions on the season and has one of the smoothest deliveries you will see on tape. He also throws the ball with excellent zip and at eye-level, as his receivers rarely have to adjust to the ball or break stride. Connor has received offers from Tennessee and UAB as he had a breakout junior season and has the overall skill-set, technique and body of work to be one day hear his name called in the NFL Draft.
TOP 2021 QB PROSPECTS
College Football Today & ESPN Plus top 2021 QB prospects feature BYU QB & 2020 Heisman Trophy contender Zach Wilson!
Zach Wilson - Wilson is very nimble when evading pass rushers, as he is very fleet of football in and out of the pocket. He slings the football with uncanny accuracy and is able to fit the football into small windows, while keeping the football away from defenders with surgical ball placement. Wilson is the most technically sound QB in the 2021 NFL Draft and uses his core to whip the football with excellent velocity down the field. He executes BYU’s brilliant offensive variations, which include many pro-style sets beautifully and is a cerebral scrambler when escaping the pocket. He does well on designed runs and knows when to get down to save his longevity for an NFL Franchise. When evaluating throwing motions, he has very little to no wind up in his delivery and has one of the quickest releases in the 2021 NFL QB draft class. He has proven to be a consistent leader through thick and thin with the BYU Cougars and will be automatic offense for any team in the NFL with his highly versatile, yet cerebral style of play. There was another QB like this back in BYU, USFL and NFL history books and his name was Steve Young. Unlike the two 2021 NFL Draft quarterbacks above, Wilson was a 3-Star recruit coming out of High School and rated the 38th "Pro-Style" QB in the nation according to 247 Sports. The only real knock against Zach would be that he hasn't played the brutal schedule of many of the top 2021 NFL Draft QB's, as they face off against FCS opponent North Alabama today, but he was able to dismantle a very talented Boise State defense. With that being said, when you study the overall fluidity, consistency and body mechanics in his delivery, along with his brilliant athletics, Wilson becomes extremely hard to pass up in this years 2021 NFL Draft.
