How are 2021 top punter recruits graded at College Football Today?
(OPM) + (RT) + (HT) + (D) + (DP) + (I20) + (CR) = (P)
(OPM) + (RT) + (HT) + (D) + (DP) + (I20) + (CR) = (P)
- Overall Punting Mechanics (OPM) - athletic relaxed stance, first step, drive step, hand to foot drop, toe flexion and follow through. (There is much more involved in this part of the formula)
- Release Time (RT) - from the time the punter catches the football to when he releases the punt from his foot.
- Hang Time (HT) - After release time, how far the football travels from contact with the football and is either caught or hits the ground.
- Distance (D) - How far the punter is able to punt the football downfield with sufficient hang time.
- Directional Punting (DP) - Can punter place the ball as directed outside the numbers and/or out of bounds left & right. (Not much to go on this round)
- Inside The 20 (I20) - Does punter show the ability to control punts and possess the ability to control the field position game for four quarters?
- Coverage Reliability (CR) - Can you be relied on to make a tackle if needed or are you a liability to make SportCenter not top 10 Sunday morning? Some examples of (CR) below.
SPECIAL TEAMS
The Special Teams scouting database is comprised of many kickers, punters & long snappers, who competed in the 2020 College Football Today High School All-American Bowl in Memphis,Tennessee. They were selected through a series of camps hosted by Coach Husby and Brian Jackson, who have taken on the daunting task of finding the world's next special team prodigies.
